weaving inspired by the Northern Flicker's Song

This beautiful bird in the woodpecker  family inspired a set of placemats with bold patterning.

The sound patterns of the Flicker's song reminded me of weaving drafts with a rhythmic effect.

I created a specific twill pattern to emulate this rhythm. 

The finished result perfectly reflects the unique beauty of this stunning bird.
